Background

Hi everyone, this is Tony Cheung, a Senior Data Scientist at Dyson. After completing a BSc Economic degree at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2016, I worked under both Cargo and Passenger Revenue department in Cathay Pacific as a data analyst, and assistant data manager.

In the autumn of 2020, I moved to the UK to pursue a master degree in Data Science at the University of Bath; this involved undertaking a placement year at Universal Music Group, where I worked with data scientist in an internal strategy team to perform different analytics solutions across a variety record label companies.

Currently, I am working full time as Senior Data Scientist at Dyson. My role predominantly involves managing a team of Data Scientists and driving the user experience, with tailored communications and personalised recommendations for care, retention and resolutions of Dyson machine users.

While studying my postgraduate programme, and learning different algorithms, I have observed that it is fairly easy to find a corresponding application online explaining how to successfully code that given algorithm. However, most of these articles that I have found are heavily dependent on importing existing algorithms from libraries without explaining the concepts and mathematics behind them.

Thus, this has motivated me to setup a website that centralises all of the algorithms, the intuition behind the algorithms, the mathematics used, and the Python codes all in one location.

Data Science Blog

A selection of blogs to share interesting findings across different industries through data science and web programming fundamentals. All of the projects, from the corresponding blogs, are built by scratch and make sure that you fully understand the end-to-end approach to generate insights from data
